Kara Downing is a dedicated Infection Preventionist and Nurse, born in San Diego, with a passion for improving patient safety and healthcare systems. She graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Health Sciences and is known for taking on new roles, leading projects, and developing sustainable programs. Kara has received the Daisy Leader Award for her outstanding leadership in healthcare. She currently serves as the Infection Prevention Manager for ambulatory clinics, home care, and system centralized surveillance, where her work has significantly contributed to reducing infection risks and improving patient care.
Outside of her professional achievements, Kara lives in the Pacific Northwest and enjoys spending time with her four goldendoodles. She is passionate about being outdoors, particularly gardening and biking, and values a healthy, active lifestyle.
