Happily Ever After: Successful Succession Planning

Session Description: It is expected that a significant portion of tenured Infection Preventionists (IPs) will be retiring over the next decade. To prevent an enormous amount of knowledge and experience from being permanently lost from the profession having a written, actionable succession plan by each of those retiring will be necessary. Much effort is put into creating orientation training documents and toolkits but very little has been created for the other end of an IP career. It is likely even more critical to start planning for this end of career transition to ensure a career's worth of institutional and professional knowledge is passed on in an organized and structured manner. This session will provide guidance and tools that can be put into place years before an IP is set to retire as well as real life experience on how to make that transition as smooth as possible.
