Donna Armellino is the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Infection Prevention at Northwell Health, where she coordinates infection prevention efforts across various healthcare environments. A registered nurse, she holds a master’s in public health administration from Long Island University and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University. Donna is certified in Infection Control/Hospital Epidemiology by the Certification Board for Infection Control (CBIC) and is a member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC). She also participates in the New York State Department of Health’s Hospital-acquired Infection Reporting Technical Workgroup.
In her role as SVP, Donna oversees ongoing assessments and standardization of infection prevention and control programs among inpatient facilities and ambulatory care services. She drives innovation in healthcare practices, including the introduction of new standards, development of care teams, and clear expectations for healthcare professionals to reduce infection risks for patients and staff. One notable initiative is her involvement with ultraviolet light (UVC) technology and enhancement of infection prevention processes, which aims to minimize cross-contamination of harmful pathogens that can lead to infections.
