Infection Prevention Associate

Makenzie Twigg, MPH, CPH, is currently working as the Infection Prevention Associate at Tampa General Hospital assisting in surveillance systems, data abstraction and reporting, and coordination of infectious disease prevention efforts. She helps develop and implement programs to support compliance with standards of care and improved patient outcomes at one of Florida’s leading academic health systems.
Prior to her current role, she worked as a Medical Case Manager, providing education and resources for people living with HIV/AIDS, and served in the Peace Corps as a Community Health Educator, partnering with the local health agency to create programs in a small town of Ecuador.
Makenzie graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Global Communicable Diseases. She is certified in Public Health by the National Board of Public Health Examiners.
During her free time, Makenzie enjoys volunteering in her church’s childrens ministry, exploring around the Tampa Bay area, and going on nightly walks with her husband and newborn.
