Senior Infection Preventionist

Caitlin Marzi, MPH CPH CIC is a Senior Infection Preventionist at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital--a large Level 1 trauma academic medical center. Within UAB's infection prevention department, she is the Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) Coordinator. She has nine years of infection prevention experience including trauma/burn intensive care, burn dressing/hydrotherapy, emergency department, neonatal intensive care, bone marrow transplant, inpatient psychiatry, plastics, urology, vascular surgery, wound care, hyperbaric oxygenation therapy, sports medicine, orthopedic trauma, and orthopedic surgery. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Alabama, a Master of Public Health in Infection Control from the University of South Florida with a graduate certificate in Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases, and board certification in both public health and infection prevention. She currently serves as the Alabama APIC Chapter 61 Committee Chair.
