Jessica Burns, BSPH, CIC, LTC-CIP, is an Infection Prevention Specialist with the Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Program at the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH). Before assuming her current role, she served as the regional health systems’ Emerging Pathogens and Infectious Disease Prevention Training Coordinator. In this capacity, Jessica played a key role in shaping the COVID-19 response strategy, acting as an infection prevention liaison to corporate leadership and contributing to health system strategy, planning, and emergency preparedness.
Jessica began her career in infection prevention in 2012 after earning her Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University. Since 2016, she has held board certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC). In addition to her professional accomplishments, she is an active member of the Association for Professionals in Infection Prevention and Epidemiology (APIC), currently serving as Chapter Secretary for the Smoky Mountain Chapter.
