Learning Objectives:

  • Upon completion, participant will be able to understand the prevalence, sources, and outcomes of hospital onset bacteremia (HOB) at a single VA medical center.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to describe how HOB surveillance methods can be implemented by hospitals to evaluate HOB prevalence, sources, and outcomes.
  • Upon completion, participant will be able to describe how HOB carries risks to patient safety that warrant attention.
