Elizabeth Monsees, Implementation Science Nurse Researcher at Children’s Mercy Hospital and Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. Elizabeth’s primary areas of research are developing sustainable, nurse-led strategies that advance patient safety through the safe and responsible use of antibiotics and diagnostic tests.
Elizabeth has had leadership roles such as Senior Director – Infection Prevention and Stewardship Integration, Antibiotic Stewardship Program Manager, Senior Patient Care Services Researcher, and Clinical Safety Officer. She has served on or led national committees, including the ANA and CDC Antimicrobial Stewardship Working Group, SHEA's Research Committee, Diagnostic Stewardship Task Force and Leadership Programs, APIC's Education, Communications, Nominating and Awards, and Research Committees, including the Research Advisory Panel. She holds editorial positions on: Antimicrobial Stewardship and Hospital Epidemiology, International Journal of Infection Control, AJIC and the APIC Online Text. Elizabeth has developed and conducted interprofessional infection prevention courses nationally and internationally.
