Karen Zabel is currently the Epidemiology Nurse Manager for the Division of Epidemiology & Informatics at Maricopa County Department of Public Health. Her background includes over 15 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse with specialization in emergency medicine and diagnostic cardiology. Karen obtained her Master of Science in Nursing with an Emphasis in Public Health in 2013 and transitioned her career to epidemiology working with Maricopa County since that time. She currently oversees the Office of Investigations and has broad oversight of disease investigation and response activities for mandated reportable diseases in Maricopa County, including vectorborne and zoonotic diseases, enteric diseases, vaccine preventable diseases, and healthcare-associated infections.
