Nicole Colandrea MLS(ASCP),CIC is currently a board-certified Infection Preventionist in an acute care setting at Yale New Haven Health in New Haven, CT. She graduated from UCONN in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. She began her career 15 years ago in the microbiology lab at the
Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven, CT, and began working as an Infection Preventionist in 2012. Throughout her infection prevention career, she has been a member of The Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. She has worked closely with many different disciplines providing education on evidence-based best practices and participated in multiple quality improvement projects concerning the prevention of surgical site infections, central line-associated bloodstream infections, and catheter-associated urinary tract infections. Additional areas of focus include projects related to high-level disinfection and sterilization within the Yale New Haven Health System.
