Dr. David Jay Weber received his BA from Wesleyan University, his MD from the University of California, San Diego, his MPH from Harvard University, and completed his medicine residency and infectious disease fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board certified in internal medicine, infectious disease, critical care medicine, and preventive medicine. Dr. Weber has been on the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 1985 and is a Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics, and Epidemiology. He serves as the Associate Chief Medical Officer and Associate Chief Quality Officer for UNC Hospitals. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Hospital Epidemiology (Infection Prevention). Dr. Weber has published more than 575 PubMed cited papers. He is President of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and Deputy Editor for Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology. He serves on multiple CDC and WHO committees/working groups
