Infection Preventionist

Lisa DiFedele, MPH is the lone Infection Preventionist at International Community Health Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center in the Greater Seattle Area. ICHS has over 20 clinical sites covering primary care, dental, vision care, geriatrics, school health, and beyond. Lisa received her Master in Public Health in microbial disease epidemiology from Yale School of Public Health. Prior to her MPH, Lisa obtained a BA from University of Colorado Boulder where she dual majored in Molecular Biology and Anthropology. Her MPH thesis, which won the Dean's Prize, included field work in Peru and was entitled: Immune Responses to Hookworm Infection. She spent many years at Yale Medical School in research labs studying first immunology of Inflammatory Bowel Disease and then immunology of hookworm infections. She spearheaded her lab's field work in Guatemala, creating and supervising in El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, and Uganda on public health and parasite projects focusing on intestinal helminthes and malaria. She worked as an Epidemiologist at the Maine Center for Disease Control, New Jersey Department of Health, and Washington State Health Department. In her role as Epidemiologist she provided infectious disease consultation, investigated and disseminated control measures on over 70 reportable diseases, lead outbreaks on many diseases including Ebola, Zika, and COVID. She was an adjunct faculty member at University of New England and a faculty member at Rutgerās Public Health School.
Lisa now lives in Seattle with her adorable dog and partner. She enjoys all outdoor activities and is an avid sailor, skier, gardener, and reader.
