Manager, Infection Prevention and Control

Cynthia "Cindy" Michael, RN, MSN/Ed, PHN, CIC is the Manager of Infection Prevention and Control at the Greater Los Angeles VA Medical Center (GLAVAMC) for five years.
She is an Air Force Veteran who has determined to give back to her fellow Veterans through public service work at the VA.
Although the majority of her experience as an Infection Preventionist (IP) has been through the pandemic, she has expanded her knowledge as an IP in all healthcare areas at the GLAVAMC to include critical care, acute care, dental, dialysis, nursing home, home care, mental health inpatient., surgery, sterile processing service, construction safety, and water safety.
Prior to working as an Infection Preventionist, she worked as a crtitical care nurse for 11 years as well as a Nursing University adjunct faculty in support of Nursing Baccalaureate programs, writting curriculum and simulation scenarios.
She is passionate about education and advancement in nursing and infection prevention.
Her hobbies include writing poetry, singing, and photography.
