I have been an Infection Preventionist with over 20 years’ experience in the field. I have always been fascinated with Epidemiology early in my college years and wanted to pursue a career in the field. I was fortunate to be given an opportunity to work as an Infection Control Practitioner with a background in microbiology. I gained experience and knowledge through hard work and determination as well as my collaborations with fellow colleagues in APIC. Some of my achievements include obtaining my CIC certification after two years of experience in infection control, the reduction of Surgical Site Infections in cardiac bypass procedures - a performance improvement project, and creation of a direct hand hygiene observation system for VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System.
Infection Prevention and Control had been, and always be a rewarding career for me.
