Kanako Fujimoto, MHS, RN, PHN is a Certified Nurse in Infection Control (CNIC) in Japan and a PhD candidate at the Graduate School of Okayama University. With 13 years of experience as a registered nurse, she became certified as a CNIC in 2017. Her research focuses on infection prevention and control (IPC) in nursing homes and long-term care facilities, using a participatory approach to collaborate with care providers, residents, and other stakeholders. She is particularly interested in how IPC can be effectively integrated into daily practice while ensuring that the perspectives of both care providers and residents are valued.
Her work aims to bridge the gap between research and practice, ensuring that IPC strategies are not only evidence-based but also practical and adaptable to real-world care settings. She is currently conducting qualitative research, gathering insights from care providers and residents to identify challenges and enablers in IPC implementation. By analyzing these perspectives, she seeks to develop practical, evidence-based IPC strategies that align with person-centered care principles, making infection prevention efforts more sustainable in long-term care settings.
