Manager of Infection Prevention, Holy Name Medical Center – Teaneck, New Jersey
Ashley Flattery is a highly skilled registered nurse with over 15 years of experience in patient care, medical-surgical nursing, and infection prevention. She began her nursing journey at Holy Name’s Sister Claire Tynan School of Nursing, where she earned her diploma in Nursing in June 2007. Committed to advancing her education and expertise, she later obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Saint Peter’s University in May 2018.
Ashley spent 12 years working on a medical-surgical unit, where she provided high-quality patient care and developed a strong clinical foundation. In 2017, she advanced into a Clinical Coordinator role, taking on leadership responsibilities to support nursing staff and enhance patient outcomes. Her dedication to professional growth led her to obtain the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Medical-Surgical Board Certification (MEDSURG-BC) in January 2018, further demonstrating her expertise in the field.
In July 2019, Ashley transitioned into the role of Infection Preventionist, quickly immersing herself in infection control strategies and hospital-wide safety initiatives. Just months after being promoted to Manager of Infection Prevention in October 2019, she found herself on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. As Holy Name Medical Center became the epicenter for COVID-19 in New Jersey, Ashley played a pivotal role in developing and implementing infection prevention protocols, managing personal protective equipment (PPE) policies, and ensuring staff and patient safety amid rapidly evolving guidelines. Through her leadership and the continued resilience of her department, Holy Name achieved zero hospital-acquired infections in multiple categories by 2023, demonstrating the lasting impact of her infection prevention initiatives.
