Abigail Cunanan, MS, MLS(ASCP)CM, CPHQ, CIC has been an Infection Preventionist for the Inova Health System since 2019. Prior to Inova, she worked for the District of Columbia Department of Forensic Sciences’ Public Health Laboratory Division and Sentara Healthcare’s Microbiology Department as a medical laboratory scientist specializing in microbiology and molecular diagnostics. She currently works at Inova’s flagship location, Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, and supports various departments including the surgical trauma units along with the Schar Cancer Institute. In addition to microbiology, her other work interests include construction and renovation, HAI surveillance, and exposure investigations. Outside of the hospital, Abby enjoys growing exotic hot peppers, exploring local wineries, and traveling to new countries.
