Marlene Fishman Wolpert, MPH, CIC, FAPIC is an independent Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Consultant. She previously served over 40 years as IPC Director at a hospital system and seven years as a long-term care (LTC) IP. Marlene has extensive IPC experience in acute care, surgical, behavioral, rehabilitation, ambulatory care, LTC, dental, laboratory, and academic settings. She is Certified in Infection Control, a Fellow of APIC, a faculty member for the APIC EPI Intensive and LTC Certificate courses, and an APIC consultant.
Marlene chaired the APIC Practice Resources Editorial Panel, serves on RI Antimicrobial Stewardship and Environmental Cleaning Task Force (AMSEC), HAI/Prevention Advisory Subcommittee, and RI Nursing Home Coalitions. She is past Co-President, Infection Control Professionals-Southern New England, was honored as an APIC Hero, and served on the APIC Education Committee and EPI 101 Revision Teams. Topics Marlene has presented at past APIC Annual Conferences include implementation science of reducing C.difficile, LTC infection prevention education, LTC bugaboos, rehabilitation infection prevention issues and more.
Marlene has guest lectured at RI College of Nursing, St. Joseph School of Nursing, Johnson and Wales University College of Culinary Arts, and the Community College of RI. Her publications address CJD, microbial adherence, bundled infection prevention strategies. Marlene authors Influenza and HAI chapters in Ferriās Clinical Advisor-Instant Diagnosis and Treatment.
