Marissa Leahy, CIC, is an Infection Preventionist at Jefferson Health, where she oversees infection control initiatives across Jefferson Methodist Hospital and Jefferson Moss-Magee Rehabilitation Hospital – Center City. With a background in public health, she has a deep understanding of the connections between health, the environment, and community well-being, which informs her approach to infection prevention.
Previously, Marissa supported ambulatory practices and an ambulatory surgical center at Jefferson Health, ensuring compliance with infection control standards and facilitating the conversion of outpatient practices to hospital-based settings. She began her career at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health’s Division of Disease Control, where she contributed to public health promotion through disease prevention and control initiatives and collaborated with the Philadelphia Department of Prisons to support continuity of care for incarcerated individuals. Through her experience at Jefferson Health, she developed expertise in sterilization, high-level disinfection, and survey readiness.
Marissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and is Certified in Infection Control (CIC). She is passionate about advancing healthcare outcomes through innovative infection prevention strategies and process improvements that protect both patients and communities.
