Infection Preventionist

Laike Abebe, MPH, CIC is an Infection Preventionist at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and has been in the department for almost 6 years. Before joining the Infection Prevention team at TGH, Laike worked at the Pasco County Health Department for 3 years as an epidemiologist and data analyst. Laike also has previous epidemiologic and data analysis experience from his internship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Laike received his Masters in Public Health from Florida A&M University in 2012 with a concentration in Epidemiology. He received his Certification in Infection Control in 2021 and is certified through 2026. Laike is also an active member of Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) and is currently on the Conference Committee for the local APIC chapter.
