Tawanna McInnis-Cole is a Registered Nurse who also holds a Doctorate in Health Administration. She incidentally discovered Infection Prevention in 2006 and has been a proponent of its principles ever since. Ultimately her passion for the field has allowed her to lead innovative projects and provide sustainable process improvement. She currently serves as the System Director for Memorial Hermann Healthcare System. She has also served as the Primary Nurse Planner for her local APIC chapter as well as an APIC Board Member. Today she serves as APIC's Chairman for the Emerging Infectious Disease Task Force. This team has worked together to bring several playbooks on emerging pathogens in efforts to provide support and guidance to our IP colleagues as we face the challenges that each disease pathogen brings.
