Dr. Emily Sickbert-Bennett is the Director for Hospital Epidemiology and Antimicrobial Stewardship at the University of North Carolina Health Care Medical Center. She is also a Professor in the School of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases and at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, Department of Epidemiology. Dr. Sickbert-Bennett is certified in infection control and is an Associate Editor for the American Journal of Infection Control, former chair of the SHEA Guidelines Committee and has more than 100 published peer-reviewed articles in the field of infection prevention, hospital epidemiology and public health surveillance. As the Director of Hospital Epidemiology, Dr. Sickbert-Bennett oversees the department’s multi-disciplinary (i.e., medical, nursing, epidemiology, microbiology personnel) daily operations of infection prevention activities at our large academic medical hospital.
