Lucy Sommerdorf BSN RN CIC is the lead infection preventionist at Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, Texas. Lucy has been a nurse for over 30 years. Her nursing experience has been in adult & pediatric medical/surgical units and mother/baby. Lucy began her career as an infection preventionist in 2005. It was a part time role assisting the full time IPs with surveillance and communicable disease reporting. In late 2011, she transitioned into a full time role with the department. From 2011 through 2019, Lucy was responsible for the infection prevention program at 2 adult acute care facilities and a critical access hospital with six outpatient clinics. In 2019, she transitioned from the adult hospitals to Ascension's freestanding Level 1 trauma pediatric hospital, Dell Children's. This is my first poster presentation at an APIC conference.
