Effective infection prevention and control in healthcare settings relies on a comprehensive approach, including the strategic use of personal protective equipment. This session explores how innovative gown designs—featuring enhancements like improved neck closures and extended cuff coverage—can significantly reduce contamination risks at high-exposure areas such as the hands, wrists, neck, and chest. Drawing on independent studies, we’ll highlight how pairing evidence-based PPE design with targeted education improves healthcare worker compliance and reduces contamination. Attendees will gain insights into the critical role that clinicals settings and workflows play in the development of PPE. The integration of these considerations into IPC protocols can strengthen frontline protection and help prevent healthcare-associated infections.
